A few shots from a recent shoot for Dram & Smoke as they prepare for a series of pop-up events at the Biscuit Factory during the Edinburgh festival. They’re serving up some seriously tasty food and drinks… well worth checking out!

Artificial Anatomy is an ongoing personal project intended to explore our understanding and perception of surface, texture and volume. Whilst part one of the project used paint to define the form of the human head and skull, part two uses light. Flashing electroluminescent wire was used to illuminate the skull and head whilst capturing long exposures to reveal their form. The exhibition images were taken at the Biscuit Factory in Edinburgh.

I’m looking forward to capturing some unique footage and imagery with my new Phantom 3 drone. These are a few images captured during it’s maiden flight on a particularly uninspiring, cloudy day in Edinburgh. This thing is brilliant to fly. The controls are easy straight out of the box, whilst the camera is able to capture some stunningly crisp footage and images. Well worth the money… go get one!

These are just a few of the images I captured during a recent trip to Greece. Elounda is a small fishing village situated in the east of Crete. A really beautiful place with some stunning landscapes and amazing food… certainly some of the best tomatoes I’ve ever tasted. Good times!

This selection of images were captured during a brief visit to an old Biscuit Factory in Leith. The disused factory located on Anderson Place has been recently transformed into an exhibition space and creative hub for online retailers, fashion photographers and independent businesses. While the majority of the building is currently undergoing a facelift, the top floor remains seemingly unchanged since its days as a working factory. A great building with some amazing interiors.

Artificial Anatomy was a self initiated project intended to explore our understanding of surface, texture and volume. The human head and skull were used as a canvas; familiar structures onto which coloured paints were poured to define their surface and shape. Corresponding images of the head and skull were captured at varying stages of the paint coverage. Images were then edited and combined in post to form hollow multilayered anatomical forms that appear to be suspended unaided in space.

Having recently purchased a macro lens for my camera I thought I’d give it a trial run. This series of images features regular soap bubbles shot using the macro lens with the aid of a couple of speed lights and a soft box. When illuminated the right way the vivd colours and organic shapes visible on the surface of these short-lived spheres are truly amazing.

En route to take some shots for a friend we took an unscheduled detour in order to check out a small abandoned cottage just off the main road. What we found was the kind of place a photographer could literally spend hours taking shots. Rotten floorboards, mouldy walls, retro wallpaper and general decaying interiors… amazing stuff.
